Introduction

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park is one of the most popular national parks in the U.K., featuring a terrain of lush hills and lakes, located just north of Glasgow. The following attractions are listed in order along a recommended route through the park.

Dumbarton Castle

Just north of Glasgow is the Dumbarton Castle, an impressive fortress built around a rocky hill peninsula. This rock has been used as a stronghold for thousands of years due to its strategic topography. From the top you can take in excellent views over the rivers and cities below.

Conic Hill & Ben A'an Peak

Next you can hike up Conic Hill for breathtaking views over Loch Lomond and its many islands, a must-see in the area. The round-trip trail length to the top and back is approximately 2.6 miles (4.2 km).

Another short hike offering spectacular views is the 2.2 mile (3.5 km) round-trip trail for Ben A'an Peak. From the top you're rewarded with astounding panoramic views over this heavenly landscape of lakes and expansive green hills.

Waterfalls

Bracklinn Falls

As you continue through the park you might stop to take the short 1.2 mile (1.9 km) round-trip hike to Bracklinn Falls, passing through beautiful forests along the way.

Loch Lubnaig

Next be sure to take in the views as you drive alongside Loch Lubnaig lake, with one of the best viewpoints at the very southeastern edge of the lake just off the road.

Falls of Dochart & Falls of Falloch

Afterwards you can briefly stop to appreciate the scenery around the Falls of Dochart in the village of Killin, and then continue to the Falls of Falloch, another pretty waterfall you can enjoy just off the road.
