The Ionian Island of Lefkada is located just off the coast of Western Greece and connected to the mainland by bridge. Most of the island's attractions are stunning beaches, listed in order along a recommended route around the island.

Start by driving along the island's western coast. First you can visit the village of Agios Nikitas and its beautiful beach. From town you have the option of hiking up over the hillside to the much longer Milos Beach. Along the 0.9 mile (1.4 km) round-trip hike to Milos Beach you can enjoy great views over the coast.

Next you can head all the way down the coast of the island to the gorgeous Porto Katsiki beach with its towering white cliffs and bright blue waters. You can enjoy incredible views of the beach from the parking lot and get a wider view by taking a short walk to the end of the small peninsula that connects to the parking lot. Be sure to also see this unique beach from below.

At the very southern tip of the Lefkada Island is Cape Lefkada, where you can take in breathtaking panoramic views over the island and its rugged coastline from a charming white lighthouse. The views over the ridge-like southern peninsula are truly amazing.

Continue to the small but stunning Agiofili Beach and its striking blue waters if you like. The beach hosts mesmerizing scenery and is definitely worth visiting.

Lastly, you can visit the port city of Nydri and take in amazing views over the surrounding picturesque landscape, which is best admired from alongside the harbor, or ideally from a boat.

If you have more time, you might consider the hike to the nearby Nidri Waterfalls, which can be reached with a 0.8 mile (1.3 km) round-trip hike through a scenic canyon gorge.

You can also head up into the Nydri Hills above Nydri and Rachi to take in breathtaking views over the many neighboring Ionian Islands, with views stretching to the mainland on a clear day. One of the best viewpoints can be found near the Villa Maura hotel, with various perspectives offered along the road.

There's also the possibility of taking a boat tour from Nydri along the island's southern rugged coastline, stopping at several beaches including Porto Katsiki along the way and taking in views of Cape Lefkada from the sea.
